Performance for Card Player and Computer

Performed in Vancouver at Queen Elizabeth Park (2012)

Performance for Max MSP patch, playing cards, digital processing and analog processing. The patches are based on card counting models and probability. Including a patch called the “Worst Case” audio recorder which only samples based on a metronome and the odds that a hand of Blackjack will be lost. (Supposedly nobody loses more than 8 in a row) MIDI Samples are generated based on a probability model that corresponds to tempo, note, and card dealt. (In a theoretical game) This way the computer plays blackjack while I shuffle the cards and sample those sounds for an analog loop.

This was also performed at the University of Nevada, Reno as an outdoor interactive card game in which participants played blackjack with me. Part of Prospectives 2012.
