I have an affinity for the homemade, the hand built, the simple and the minimal. I'm fascinated by technical innovation and modern digital systems,
and equally intrigued by outdated technology or anything that was postulated to be the next big thing. All of these interests coalesce with a visual
and audible vocabulary informed by pop culture. Music and sound grew out of a pop sensibility that was largely visual at first, based primarily on science
fiction movies from the 1980's. That sensibility expanded aesthetically and I became interested in the sounds of those films. Further, I was swept up by music
and the independence that some bands had over their creativity and their process. There is something so pertinent about performing, it cannot be ignored.
The immediacy of performing in a band informed a kind of art that synthesized all of these interests. The work is necessarily pressing, happening now, and is
somehow nervously in time, attempting to make sense of nostalgia and hope.
